Dustin Cottrell moved to Atlanta in '05 to find a wider scene than the north Florida enviroment we grew up in. It's been really good. I do a bit of freelancing with jazz combos, as well as quite a bit of solo piano stuff.

As a player and as a student of jazz, I've sought out artists that strike me as truly genuine and honest, regardless of their style-era. Some names that come to mind are Errol Garner, Wynton Kelly, McCoy Tyner, Brad Meldau

My biggest passion right now, however, is a project I do with my wife called “Tortoise and Hair.” It's a folk-based, jazz informed, singer-songwriter duet in which we're both playing guitars and singing. We just recorded our first CD, titled simply “Tortoise and Hair”.
